Watt a gr8 idea!
Warwickshire residents can now be streets ahead thanks to a flash new way to report faulty streetlights.
The bright idea comes from Warwickshire County Council, who has set up a text messaging service for members of the public to report faulty streetlights.
Mike Cunningham, from Warwickshire County Council said: “Our teams can’t be on the streets all of the time so we are asking members of the public to let us know the next time they see a street light on the blink. And now all they have to do text us and we’ll get someone out to sort it. It’s as simple as that.
“The new service means that we can make sure that the streets are properly lit and safe, and neighbourhoods aren’t bothered with intermittent flashing lights throughout the night.”
Just text the word ’lighting’ to 07950081082, along with details of the fault and the town, street, and column number or the location of the light in a maximum of 160 characters. Standard network charges apply.
Remember that it is illegal to use a hand-held mobile when driving even when stopped in traffic or waiting at traffic lights. Make sure that you only text when it is safe and legal to do so and pull over to a safe location if you are driving.
