Winner of fire safety competition gets a real surprise!
Conor from Telford Infant School got a real surprise yesterday when firefighters turned up at assembly to present him with a prize.
Firefighters from Leamington Fire Station presented Conor with a certificate and gift voucher for being the Overall Winner of the Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, Fire Safety Arts Competition. They also presented the Deputy Head, Mrs Ward with an arts set and gift voucher for the school.
County Fire Officer, William Brown said:
“All of the pictures received were really impressive. My job as judge was very hard and it was tough to decide on the winning categories, but they are all very much deserved. I hope that Conor enjoys spending his prize money - well done!"
Deputy Head Teacher, Mrs Ward
“We are very excited about Conor winning the competition. All of the children worked really hard on their entries and we are delighted that someone from our school has won.”
The competition, which was run by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, was open to children from schools across Warwickshire. The main aim of the competition was to get young children thinking about fire safety in school and at home.
