A new website detailing work carried out to plan and promote religious education in Warwickshire has been launched.
Warwickshire SACRE launched their official website on Thursday 19 January 2006.
The website is mainly aimed at RE teachers and co-ordinators offering links to online resources, County Council training courses and inviting comments on how they can be supported further by the Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE).
Members of the public are invited to visit the website where they can find out what SACRE do and access minutes of SACRE meetings and the group’s annual report.
SACRE is made up by representatives from seven major faith groups practised in Warwickshire: Christianity (including several denominations), Baha’i, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism.
The group advises Warwickshire County Council on the RE syllabus used by all county and voluntary controlled schools, and other schools that choose to do so. SACRE also tackle issues related to religious education in Warwickshire schools.
With changes being made currently to the inspection of schools and the advent of the revision of the RE syllabus in 2007, SACRE hope to engage more closely with RE teachers via the website.
Co-Chair of Warwickshire SACRE, Manjit Kaur said: “We are delighted to share the good work of SACRE and encourage RE teachers and members of the public to visit the website. “
