Firefighters tackle pub blaze

Firefighters from across the county spent over three hours last night tackling a blaze at a Warwickshire pub.

The fire took hold of the White Lion pub in Radford Semele, near Leamington Spa at around 4.40pm. Firefighters from Leamington, Southam, Warwick, Stratford, Kenilworth and Coleshill helped to bring the fire under control.

The Fire and Emergency Support Service unit was also on the scene to look after children from a local nursery after their building became smoke logged.

Assistant Divisional Officer, Simon Ellershaw said:

"The crews worked hard to ensure that the blaze didn’t spread to other parts of the building. The roof is completely destroyed and the building is severely damaged by fire."
