Calling all aspiring authors!
Budding writers and romance lovers across the county are being given a once in a lifetime opportunity beginning this Valentine’s Day.
International publishers of romantic fiction, Mills & Boon®, have joined with Warwickshire County Council’s Library and Information Service to help find the next big name in romantic fiction.
One lucky winner will be chosen to take an all expenses paid trip to the Mills & Boon offices in Richmond for lunch and a one-to-one consultation with one of their editors.
Alison McKellar, Principal Librarian for Warwickshire County Council said: “This is such an incredible opportunity! For those of us who have only dreamt of writing for a living and always fancied ourselves as a bit of a romance writer, now is the time to pick up a pen or sit down at a computer and let the imagination flow.”
All you have to do to enter is write the first chapter of a romance novel and a synopsis of the whole story and hand it in to any Warwickshire Library by Friday 28 April 2006. Every entrant to the competition will receive a free book and if you need a helping hand to overcome the writers block, two writing workshops are planned on Thursday 2 March to coincide with World Book Day and help everyone polish their creative talents.
The master classes will be held firstly at Kenilworth Library from 10am until midday and then at Stratford Library from 2pm until 4pm. Expert advice will be on hand on how to get your work published and a Mills & Boon editor will be available to answer all your questions. The event also includes a special class on how to write a great romantic novel and everyone who attends will receive a free book.
Tickets are just £2.50 and are limited, so any aspiring writers should book soon to avoid disappointment. Call Kenilworth Library on 01926 748907 or Stratford Library on 01789 292209 to reserve your place.
