Nicholas Chamberlaine Technology College joins the top club
Nicholas Chamberlaine Technology College has been named as one of the most improved specialist schools in the country.
The school has received a letter in the last few days from the Specialist Schools’ Trust, informing staff that it has qualified for the Government Agency’s Most Improved Schools Club.
This very prestigious award is given to schools who have drastically improved their school’s GCSE five A*-G awards during the last three years (2002 – 2005).
Headteacher Lesley King said she is very proud that the hard work of staff and students has been publicly recognised and rewarded. She said: “We have worked conscientiously and consistently to improve results at Nicholas Chamberlaine Technology College during the last few years.
"We have always stressed the importance of embedding improvements in order to sustain them. Staff have put in place a range of strategies across the board to raise standards and achievement, this has included ‘Superlearning Days’, sharing good practice in the classroom and investing in ICT. We have also extended the variety of courses offered to students.”
The letter received from the Specialist Schools Trust said: "This is a wonderful achievement. Membership of our Most Improved Schools Club is reserved for Specialist Schools who have improved by 10 per cent or more on their results."
Mrs King also praised the improvement in results of Ash Green School. Both schools make up The Bedworth Federation – a new development in Warwickshire and are led by Mrs King. The Federation was formed with help from Warwickshire County Council to allow them to work together and share good practice.
Mrs King said: “The whole community is on the way up with excellence our hallmark. The opportunities, and good practice, growing across The Federation have made us a powerful force to be reckoned with.”
