Arts celebration in Rugby
Are you a local artist or craft designer who would like to get more exposure for your work? Would you like to join in Artsweek 2006 and exhibit your work at a venue in Warwickshire?
The County Arts Service is holding a series of meetings across the county for any interested in Artsweek to come along and find out more.
For artists in Rugby, Dunchurch, Stretton and Wolston the meeting is being held on Thursday 16 March at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum between 6.00 and 7.00pm.
The meetings are being organised by Brenda Boardman, Visual Arts and Crafts Development Officer for Warwickshire and Solihull. Brenda, a part-time artist herself, has been employed by Warwickshire County Arts Service to manage the growth and success of Arts week and assist artists in their professional needs.
Artsweek 2006 is a biannual event and it runs from 1-16 July. Last year some 134 artists exhibited in 119 venues, attended by 24,000 visitors and generating approximately £67,000 in sales by artists.
Brenda said,
“The fourth event in 2006 promises to be bigger and even better with visual arts and crafts representing all aspects of Warwickshire communities. Venues start getting booked up very quickly so artist should start looking and book their venues as soon as possible. Please take advantage of our extended registration deadline, now 31 March ”
Artsweek is open to all artists – young and old, amateur and professional and registration forms are available by contacting the County Arts Service on Tel 01926 412492 or by emailing countyartsservice@warwickshire.gov.uk. Registration for Artsweek 2006:-
Individual artists: £60
Joint Group / Studio exhibition: £100
Gallery with 3 or more paid staff: £150
Registration forms must be completed and returned by 31 March 2006
Each registration receives one entry in the brochure, a page on the Artsweek Website, Arts Trail Maps, posters, venue signs and other publicity.
You can also benefit from advice, support and training to help you succeed in marketing, exhibiting and selling your work.
Warwickshire Artsweek is organised by a steering group representing galleries, education, tourism, creative industries and artist groups and is supported by all local authorities in Warwickshire.
