A `green’ welcome for home movers
A `green’ Welcome Pack is to be presented to hundreds of home movers across Warwickshire in a bid to encourage them to become more sustainable.
Warwickshire County Council, thanks to funding from housing developers, has put together the pack containing an array of useful information on everything from recycling through to local bus and cycle routes.
And developers across Warwickshire have supported the scheme. Residents moving into everywhere from Barratt Mercia’s development in New Street, Bedworth, to Charles Church in Leamington, Cala Homes in Stratford, Harvon Developments in Newbold or George Wimpey Homes in Warwick, to name but a few, will all be collecting the new pack.
The first packs are going out at the end of this week in Leamington and Bedworth and will include:
· A to Z Recycling: details hot tips and local information to help you be more WasteWise
· A to Z TravelWise: details hot tips and information to help you be more TravelWise
· A to Z PowerWise: details hot tips to help you be more PowerWise
· Save Cash and Save the Planet (produced by Friends of the Earth): details information about national organisations and things you can do to help save money and the environment
· An Energy Efficient Light Bulb: to use in your favourite lamp!
· A Shopper’s Guide to Green Labels: to help you understand environmental labels on products
· A fridge magnet: demonstrating the items you can recycle
· A pen: courtesy of Recycle for Warwickshire
· Local bus information: to give you the details you need to get on the bus!
· Local leisure cycle route information: to help you keep fit and enjoy Warwickshire’s countryside.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Cabinet member for Environmental Services, said: ``This is a great initiative, and a wonderful example of the public and private sector working together. There is no better time to encourage people to adopt new more sustainable habits than when moving into a new home, and I’m sure the packs will be a huge success and gratefully received.’’
