Warwickshire Web recognised as a 'Top site'
Warwickshire County Council’s web site has been recognised as one of the country's top websites by the Society of Information Managers (SOCiTM) in their annual survey of Local Authority sites.
For the first time, the site has been given “transactional” status, the highest accolade available. This coincides with a return to the top ten of county sites as ranked by a group of independent assessors.
Services for job applicants received a special mention in the review, which praised the sites ability to complete forms online and find nearby vacancies by postcode.
The report places Warwickshire 12th out for 543 in the country for visitor numbers, ahead of many much larger authorities.
Webmaster for Warwickshire County Council, Phil Parker, said: “We’ve all been working hard for over four years to make sure the Warwickshire Web gives the best service possible. It is great news that we have been recognised in the most important report on local government web sites. That said, with over 12,000 visits a day to the site, the best thing is that people in Warwickshire are finding it useful.”
The SOCITM survey is carried out between November and January every year. It tests many features of all 543 local authority web sites including ease of use, quality of information and accessibility.
There are 60 web sites currently listed as Transactional. This includes Warwick District Council.
