Keeping Warwickshire ahead of the game

A vibrant and successful county such as Warwickshire does not happen by accident and steps are being taken to ensure the county continues to thrive.

Whether its boosting business opportunities, regenerating market towns, creating employment and education opportunities, or targeting those experiencing deprivation with help, Warwickshire County Council’s Regeneration and Competitiveness Strategy, approved by full council, is being backed as the way forward until 2010.

And with business innovation and the many other areas targeted in the report remaining so fluid, the county council is to review the strategy each year to ensure it remains at the cutting edge for local people and enterprises.

Cllr Chris Saint, Warwickshire County Council’s Cabinet member for Economic Development, said: ``We are working hard to create a sustainable and vibrant local economy which develop skills, promotes employment and contributes to prosperity for all.

``Our up to date Regeneration and Competitiveness Strategy highlights the commitments for every part of the county, whether it be business support, tourism development, the provision of industrial units or a variety of regeneration projects.  None of these might be available without our support.

“We also have the opportunity to innovate in so many areas. For example Warwickshire is working hard to promote our growth in drawing in national and international motor sport interest with our position in the heart of a growing `motor sport valley’.

``We recognise we can’t do everything at once. The Strategy will be supported by an action plan that we will review annually in consultation with strategic partners via the emerging Local Area Agreements.’’
