Fire Kills - get your home checked!
Firefighters are urging local residents to apply for a FREE home fire safety check this week as part of a drive to reduce the number of house fires in North Warwickshire.
Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) has, for a number of years, operated a Home Fire Safety Check scheme, offering free fire safety advice to homes across the county.
Area Risk Manager, Paul Bagnall said
”We are having a real problem getting people to apply for a free check. Fire kills, injures, and devastates thousands of homes each year and we would like to reduce that risk to residents in North Warwickshire. The checks are free and only uniformed officers with a pre-arranged appointment will call.”
To qualify for a free Home Fire Safety Check you will need to meet one or more of the following criteria:
· You are over 65 years old
· You are on a low income
· You are registered disabled
· You have young children under the age of four
· You are a single parent
· You have had a fire in your home in the last 12 months
Requests for a home fire safety check can be received in a number of ways e.g. via referrals from partner agencies, by telephone or via our web site. Each check will take about 30-40 minutes and can be arranged for a time to suit you.
