More buses to cope with popularity of Rugby
An increase in the number of people heading into Rugby on a Sunday both shopping and seeking leisure pursuits has prompted Warwickshire County Council and Stagecoach to look at bus frequencies.
Following discussions with the local bus operator Stagecoach, Warwickshire County Council is pleased to announce that it is increasing the frequency of Service 86 on Sundays to hourly, commencing on 23 April.
The 86 provides a service between Rugby and Coventry, serving the villages of Long Lawford, Church Lawford, Wolston, Brandon and Binley Woods.
Further good news is the introduction of another local town service to run on Sundays. Last year a Sunday service was introduced on Route 4. Now a service on Route 1 between Hillmorton and Rugby town centre will be launched on Sunday, 23 April. The new service will run every 30 minutes.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Cabinet member for the Environment, said: “Far more people than ever before are now shopping or going out socially on Sundays.
“We are delighted Stagecoach are able to provide the increased frequency for the Sunday bus service between Rugby and Coventry and for them to provide another local town service to run on Sundays is a real bonus for people in the area.”
