A healthy course of walking

A new ten-week course of walking is being launched at the end of this month by Warwickshire County Council for just £10.

Thursday, April 27, at 10am will see the first in a series of ten led walks take place at Ryton Pools Country Park in Warwickshire.

Each walk will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour and is aimed primarily at people who are out of the habit of regular exercise, but feel they would like to be more active.

Cllr Martin Heatley, the county council’s Cabinet member for Environmental Services, said: ``Walking is a great way to improve your health, and this course offers a chance to get involved in a walking group, which is a brilliant way to get started.’’

At the end of the programme participants will receive a walker’s support pack including a pedometer, walking guides and supporting information to help maintain a more active lifestyle.

Full details on the ten-week course are available by visiting http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/walkinggroup

Places are limited on the course, and therefore anyone interested is asked to book as soon as possible by contacting Rosie Smith on 01926 418638.
