WANTED: Older people to shape the future...
Warwickshire County Council is putting out a call for dynamic and enthusiastic older people to play a vital role in shaping the future direction of services for older people across Warwickshire.
Following a complete review of services for older people in the county a new Older People’s Services Partnership Board is being formed and volunteers aged 50 or over are now being recruited to participate in the work of the board.
There is currently one voluntary position available, as four representatives have already been appointed. The successful candidate will be representative of older people in their community, and will work with others to make a real difference to the way services are provided.
This new board will focus on the well-being of older people and preventative services, and through these voluntary posts older people themselves will be working alongside other partner organisations to ensure the views of older people are at the centre of future services.
County Councillor Bob Stevens, a member of the Members Reference Group said: “This partnership board really is about listening to the views of Warwickshire’s older people and making positive improvements to their lives.
“This new post is a fantastic opportunity to engage in the decision making process to ensure older people’s voices are heard. We already support a number of local older people’s forum groups across Warwickshire and we would welcome expressions of interest from members of those groups.”
Elizabeth Ross, Social Policy Strategy Advisor, for Warwickshire County Council said: “We are looking for people who really want to engage in the future of older people through out the county. Although these posts are voluntary, expenses will be paid and applicants should be enthusiastic and committed to making a difference. They should also have some experience of working at a strategic level, be good communicators and able to make a commitment to co-ordinating the views of older people in their area.”
