On your marks, get so and go – to Sutton Park!
A Stratford (retained) firefighter is urging local residents to dust down their bikes and get ready for the first ever, family adventure ride in Sutton Park.
Mike Grisenthwaite, who has been a firefighter at Stratford fire station for 2 years, is hoping to encourage families from across Warwickshire to take part in the event, which is being run by Cyclists Fighting Cancer (CFC). CFC is a new charity based in Stratford, which was founded by Mike, who is a cancer survivor.
The family adventure ride will take place on Monday 1 May in Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield. Families taking part will be able to explore the park whilst collecting points for discovering checkpoints and answering questions about the parks history and wildlife. All entries will be entered into a prize draw to win a brand new Raleigh bike. The starting time for this adventure will be between 9.30 - 11.30am. You will have a maximum of two hours to visit the control points before returning back to hand in the answers. The entry fee is £10.

“The main emphasis of the day is to have fun whilst raising money for bikes and equipment for children affected by cancer and local hospitals and hospices including The Birmingham Children’s Hospital Oncology and Leukaemia Research Fund.
“Cancer has had a big impact on my life, but I’m now back at work looking after the lives of others. As well as being a firefighter I am also an Ironman Triathlete. I spend most of my time cycling, swimming or running and I want other people suffering from Cancer to have the opportunity to do the same.”
