Excitement mounts ahead of childcare awards

Childminders, nurseries and children’s centres across Warwickshire are vying to be named as the county’s best in the Warwickshire Childcare Awards.

The scheme has been expanded this year following the success of the awards in the past. The shortlist has now been revealed.

There are eight categories in the awards, which are run by Warwickshire County Council to promote excellence in all areas of childcare.

The winners will be announced on 9 June at a ceremony at the Corus Hotel in Honiley.

Providers that have been short-listed are being visited by members of the awarding panel, who will be looking for examples of best practice.

The categories are:
Childminder of the Year
Childminder Partnership of the Year
Children’s Centre of the Year
School Age Childcare Provider of the Year
Most Improved Business Development
Student Placement of the Year
Childcare Employer of the Year
Integrated Childcare & Education Provision of the Year

Norma Smeaton, Head of Early Years and Childcare at Warwickshire County Council, said: “The quantity and quality of childcare in Warwickshire has grown in recent years and this is reflected in the entries for these awards. Nurseries and childcare providers do a lot of good work that often passes unnoticed and this is a chance to acknowledge the efforts that are made.”
