Warwickshire County Council Chair and Vice Chair elected

Warwickshire County Council elected its new chairman and vice chair at full council meeting on Tuesday.

Cllr Chris Davis (Leamington Milverton), vice chair from 2005/06, stepped up to take up the chairmanship.  Cllr John Wells (Brownsover) assumes the responsibility of vice chair.

Councillor Davis has served on the council since 1993.  His current committee membership includes the Pension Fund Investment Board, the Resources, Performance and Development Overview and Scrutiny Committee and is in the pool of members for Appointments and Disciplinary Appeals Sub-Committee.  He also represents Warwickshire County Council on the Warwickshire Police Authority.

Cllr Davis also represents the council on such organisations as the Warwick Independent Schools Foundation and the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership.

Cllr Davis said:  “I am pleased to be appointed as chairman of the county council. I shall work with the vice chair and the other members to ensure that the county continues to move forward and set the highest standards of service for Warwickshire’s residents.

“I would like to pass on my warmest regards to my predecessor, Councillor Gordon Collett, and thank him for the work he did as chairman.”
