Children’s Centre looms large in Lillington

Youngsters in Lillington are watching the future loom before their eyes – and they can’t wait for it to happen.

Work is progressing apace at the new Children’s Centre in Mason Avenue.

The new centre, which is being funded by Warwickshire County Council and managed by the national children’s charity NCH, will join together the work of Lillington Community Centre, Leamington Parent’s Centre Lillington Nursery and Lillington Primary School.

Between them they will offer a range of services for all parents of children aged under five living in the area.

When the new centre opens in the autumn there will be activities for the whole community but especially for parents and children – such as stay and play, music and movement and coffee mornings with the chance for all members of the community to use the new facility.

The Children’s Centre will offer advice about benefits, tax credits and employment opportunities and host adult learning courses. In addition, parents will be able to get antenatal and parenting support, and advice about their child’s well being.

Olwyn Ditchburn, project manager for the Children’s Centre said: “Work on the new centre is really coming along and parents of young children in Lillington are helping us plan for this wonderful facility, opening later this year. The building work is very visible and the new centre is creating a lot of interest. It promises to be a real hub of activity for the community, offering convenient access to services, and a lot of fun for children!”
