A package to revitalise
Warwickshire County Council, with partners Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, has completed a package of environmental improvements to the retail area of Bulkington Road in Bedworth.
These improvements include upgraded streetlighting, reconstructed and resurfaced footways, new dropped kerbs and tactile paving, upgraded street furniture and relining and resurfacing of junctions.
It has been funded by Advantage West Midlands under the Regeneration Zone Neighbourhood Retail Business Support programme. Warwickshire County Council has also installed an upgraded pedestrian crossing.
The environmental improvements form one element of a programme of support to local retail business in the area designed to give the area a lift and halt economic decline.
Business Link Coventry and Warwickshire has also been working with retailers to look at ways of improving individual businesses. Funding for shop front improvements has been on offer to eligible retailers.
Some of the Bulkington Road retailers who have worked with Business Link and directly benefited under the scheme are Pet Care, APC Country Store and DD Electronic.
Cllr Kanwardeep Singh, representing the local Poplar Ward, said: āIām delighted to see these improvements and demonstrates again the work Warwickshire County Council can be doing behind the scenes to ensure business and communities continue to thrive.ā
A similar package of improvements was recently completed in Rathbone Close in Keresley and other retail areas in the Regeneration Zone stand to benefit under the programme.
