Helping hand helps schools projects get off the ground
Children in Warwickshire are set for an exciting summer after grants for a number of summer schools, after school clubs and public art projects were awarded.
Schools won the funding after a special workshop run by Warwickshire County Council explaining how to make the most of the Awards for All scheme.
After having their imaginations fired by the different kind of projects that could qualify for grants, headteachers got busy making a number of applications.
The Awards for All scheme distributes small grants of Lottery good causes money to voluntary and community groups across the country. The scheme is run by the Big Lottery Fund on behalf of Lottery good cause funders, the Arts Council England, Big Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund and Sport England.
In Warwickshire, 27 schools have been awarded money for use this summer, with more applications being processed.
Warwickshire County Council Extended Learning Manager Stella Bolitho said: “Schools responded well to this chance to get some funding to offer something extra to their pupils and the community and the results are showing already. I’m delighted that we were able to give the helping hand that will unlock learning opportunities for children all over the county. Some of these projects project promise to be hugely creative and inspirational for everyone who takes part.”
