Rugby’s Brooke School Win Inaugural Consumer Challenge Event 2006
A team of students from Rugby’s Brooke School have won the inaugural Warwickshire ‘Consumer Challenge Quiz 2006’, organised by Warwickshire County Council Trading Standards Service.
The Consumer Challenge Quiz aims to help raise awareness of consumer issues amongst young people (aged between 14 and 17), with moderate learning difficulties, in a fun and exciting way.
Students from three of the counties Special Schools: Round Oak School, Leamington Spa; Brooke School, Rugby; and Woodlands School, Atherstone took part.
Brooke School will now represent Warwickshire at the National Consumer Challenge final, one of the centrepieces to the National Trading Standards conference to be held in London in June.
Warwickshire County Councillor Richard Hobbs, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety said:
‘I’d like to congratulate all the teams that took part in this first Warwickshire Consumer Challenge event. The quiz was greatly enjoyed by all the students and I wish Brooke School every success when they represent the county in the national final in June.
Warwickshire Trading Standards Service is committed to raising young people’s awareness of their consumer rights.’
