Warwickshire is rocking for Evermore
Warwickshire’s rock supergroup has successfully taken to the stage for the first time and is now lining up a series of performances around the county.
Seven young musicians were recruited for the band – designed to complement traditional county ensembles and orchestras - following auditions.
After just a few weeks of rehearsals, the group named themselves Evermore and struck their first chords in public.
They have been supporting young singing prospects at the TeenIdol concerts and have come through the task with style.
Evermore are now preparing to continue their role for the rest of the TeenIdol programme. TeenIdol is a training programme run by music industry experts in conjunction with Warwickshire County Council. The young singers have been receiving expert tuition and have been performing at the Royal Spa Centre.
The remaining concerts are in Bedworth Civic Hall on 1 June, Rugby Theatre on 17 June and the grand finale, featuring the pick of the bunch is at the Royal Spa Centre on 24 June.
Following that, Evermore will line up gigs at clubs and venues in the area.
“They were nervous at first but despite having less than two months of rehearsals they have clicked,” said Mike Roberts of the County Music Service.
“We have ensembles that bring together the best classical players in the County Music Service and Evermore extends that to rock music. There is real talent in the band, and all the members are thriving on playing with other good musicians.
“This year’s TeenIdol programme is going well and the remaining concerts promise to be a great success. The singers will continue with the training and Evermore promise to go from strength to strength.”
