New Children’s Centre for Bedworth Heath
Everything from baby massages and post-natal classes through to parenting skills and speech therapy are being offered at a new centre for the residents of Bedworth Heath.
Friday, June 2, will see the launch of Bedworth Heath Children’s Centre marking the culminating of phase three of the ambitious transformation of Bedworth Heath Leisure and Activity Centre in Smorrall Lane.
An array of dignitaries will attend Friday’s launch, including Chairman of Warwickshire County Council Cllr Chris Davis, North Warwickshire MP Mike O’Brien and Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth Julie Jackson.
The centre is all-new, offering indoor and outdoor play areas and classes and sessions on almost every day of the week for children and parents.
Included within the range of services is a scheme targeted at children with special needs.
Cllr Chris Saint, Warwickshire County Council’s Cabinet member for Economic Development, said: “I’m delighted to see another new service for the benefit of the people of Bedworth Heath. The close consultation with parents and the community at every stage in the development of this centre will make it their facility.
“Work began on transforming the site in 2003 and we now have a first rate facilities including an IT suite, activity hall and charity shop. Work on the Children’s Centre started in the winter as phase three and is a great addition, once again demonstrating Warwickshire County Council’s commitment to building sustainable neighbourhoods.”
The development of the Children’s Centre has only been possible by a large number of partners working together including Warwickshire County Council, Advantage West Midlands, Spurgeon’s Child Care, Building Sustainable Neighbourhoods, European Regional Development Fund, SureStart, The Coalfields Regeneration Trust, CSW Partnership Ltd, and Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.
At the launch of the new centre there will also be a chance for local people to see the new Get Set and Go bus provided by Warwickshire County Council to link the areas of Camp Hill and Bedworth Heath to key employment centres such as Bayton Road in Exhall and Bermuda Park, Nuneaton.
