From red watch to green watch for environmentally friendly fireman
Retained firefighter and crew manager of Warwick fire station, Tony Kent has expanded his services to the community by setting up an environmentally friendly bin cleaning service.
Tony has been a retained firefighter for 13 years and enjoys the freedom that the role gives him. As well as answering the call to serve his community, Tony’s day job has been just as rewarding, so much so, that after ten and a half years in the waste industry he has decided it’s time to set up a service of his own.
Tony said: “The idea behind this new venture is to clean domestic, clinical and company waste bins inside an environmentally friendly mobile washing unit. This means that no harmful residues are allowed to enter drains and subsequently affect the environment. I do believe that we should protect the environment and this is one of the ways that I can help to achieve this.”
The advanced water system holds up to 450 litres of water and can clean up to 630 large commercial bins. The service will be available to businesses in Leamington, Warwick, Kenilworth, Stratford and Coventry. The benefit to the customer is that they can have household, wheelie or company waste bins cleaned without even getting their hands dirty.
It will also help to prevent the build up of foul smelling waste materials. This will be particularly beneficial during hotter weather, when bins begin to smell more. It will also help businesses to cut down on the amount of water used, just to wash one bin.
