Free health checks at Leamington library

We all wonder about our general health and wellbeing from time to time, but never do anything about it? Well now’s your chance – Leamington Library are holding a free health event for local people to come along and enjoy.

The event, which is being held at Leamington library, will run from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday 8 July. Health visitors and medical students from the University of Warwick will be on hand to provide free blood pressure and weight checks and to discuss people’s general health concerns in private. These health professionals will be able to provide referral letters to GPs if appropriate.

There will also be a pharmacist from Lloyds Pharmacy providing free blood glucose tests and a number of health organisations / societies present to offer health information and advice, including British Epilepsy Association, Blood Pressure Association, Carers’ Support Services, Diabetes UK, Expert Patient Programme, Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), RNID, The Alzheimer’s Society and The Parkinson’s Society.

As well as getting general health information and advice, there will also be free information leaflets provided by the library and access to PC’s if anyone wants to get on-line to find out more about how to take more care of their health.

Information & Community Services Librarian Alice Tomalin said:  “This is a great opportunity for people to come along and talk to health professionals in a relaxed and friendly environment. The library stocks a range of health books and has a number of PC’s for people to access health information on-line.  This is a drop in event, so no bookings are necessary. So why not come along and get your free MOT at Leamington Library on Saturday 8 July.”
