‘Mazi – International Friendship’ theme for arts show
Children from all over Leamington & Warwick will be coming together to celebrate ‘Mazi – International Friendship’.
They will be taking part in activities from all over the world in two days of workshops hosted at Cubbington C of E Primary School in Leamington Spa.
The Intercultural Creative and Performing Arts Festival, being run on the theme of ‘Mazi – International Friendship’, is being organised by Warwickshire County Council’s Intercultural Curriculum Support Service (ICSS).
It is part of three other similar events being held around the county. The annual aims to create a better understanding and awareness of each others’ cultural, religious and linguistic diversity.
Some of the activities in this year’s workshops are: Rakhri, Polish Symbols, Mendhi, Urdu Script, Cooking, African Song/Nursery Rhymes, African Drumming, Storytelling, Bhangra, Batik, Korean Board Games.
After the workshops, the youngsters will hold a finale evening at The Royal Spa Centre on 30 June with performances including dance, drama, music and poetry.
James Shera, Director of ICSS said: “These events help children understand and appreciate different cultures while having fun. The finale performances have gone down very well in the past with parents, friends and people from the community enjoying them and this year promises another good turn out.”
