Music open to all barre none
Youngsters across South Warwickshire are barre-ing chords, blowing fanfares and moving to music at South Warwickshire Music Centre.
New groups have been started up, allowing children of all ages to enjoy making music on a number of instruments.
A guitar group has been set up by teachers for those interested in playing lead, rhythm and bass guitar. Playing all styles of music, ‘The Guitar Experience’ is aimed at those who can play chords and read TAB music.
Young brass players are also being sought for a group that meets on Saturday mornings. Cornet, trumpet, horn, euphonium and trombone players are invited to take part in the Junior Brass Ensemble.
And young children are also being catered for with sessions aimed at three to six-year-olds. The Kindermusic group allows the youngsters to express themselves to music.
All the sessions are based at Stratford High School in the music department. They are run by South Warwickshire Music Centre, part of Warwickshire County Council’s County Music Service.
The Guitar Experience is at 4- 4.45pm on Thursdays, Junior Brass Ensemble at 9-9.45am on Saturdays and Kindermusic at 11-11.45am on Saturdays.
South Warwickshire Music Centre also rehearses at Stratford Girls Grammar, St. Benedict’s High, Brailes Primary, Tysoe Primary, St. Mary’s Catholic Primary Studley, Ilmington Primary, Quinton Primary.
A new music centre at Stratford Girls Grammar is playing host to a series of recitals by soloists this week. ‘Kaleidoscope’ is held at the Stratford Music Academy and will feature woodwind, brass and singers of all ages performing short solo works. The concert is at 7pm on Wednesday 28 July.
