999 challenge was a huge success!

Firefighters from Stratford have raised over £500 in the Debenhams 999 challenge.

13 firefighters and office staff from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service spent 9 hours, 9 minutes and 9 seconds rowing and peddling in a bid to raise money for the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund. The firefighters managed to row 100km and ride 635.27km on sports equipment in the Debenhams store, Stratford Upon Avon in May.

Sub Officer Ashley said:
“I would like to thank everyone who took part in the event and put in their time, determination and drive to succeed in the 999 challenge. The last few hours were very hard, everyone was very tired and looking forward to hearing the final whistle. Both the staff and customers in Debenhams were very supportive and without their help the day wouldn’t have been as much fun!”

The 999 triathlon Challenge was run in shop windows in Debenhams stores throughout the UK. The main aim of the challenge is to see which team is the fittest in the UK, by cycling and rowing the furthest distances and raising money for the National Benevolent Fund.
