Artsweek promises exciting time for art lovers
Warwickshire is preparing for an exciting period where its artists take the fore with unique hand-made arts and craftwork during Artsweek from Saturday (1 July).
Over 200 venues across the county are displaying sculpture, photography, paintings, textiles, woodwork, jewellery and ceramics.
Galleries, village halls, churches, restaurants and parks as well as open studios, colleges and schools will open their doors for arts enthusiasts from Saturday until 16 June.
Trail maps and brochures are available from libraries, tourist information offices, galleries, shops and the Artsweek website at http://www.warwickshireartsweek.co.uk
Brenda Boardman, Warwickshire County Council’s visual arts and crafts business development officer, said: “Artsweek 2006 provides a wealth of talent and a great opportunity for visitors to have an enjoyable day visiting all kinds of venues to view exciting art and craft. It’s going to be a busy time for all.”
Warwickshire Arts week is organised by groups representing local authorities, galleries, education, tourism, creative industries and artists and is funded through the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sub-Regional Arts Partnership, Chiltern Railways and artists’ registration fees.
Organisers have organised a prize draw with full details at participating venues and on the website. The prize is a framed etching by Knightcote farmer and artist Bill Yardley.
