County staff - Race for life

18 women from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service have helped to raise over £800 for Cancer Research UK by taking part in this years Race for Life.

The team who were sporting red t-shirts with the fire service logo took part in the race at Warwick Racecourse in June.

Secretary to the Strategic Director of Community Protection and County Fire Officer, Margaret Pipe said:
“It was a really great event for a brilliant cause.  Most of our team were motivated to take part in the race thinking about either family members or friends - but all agreed they had tremendous satisfaction at the end of the race.”

The first team member to complete the race was Donna McGettigan - who did really well coming in around 8th place, followed by Carrie Brougham-field, Sally Bentley and Louise Rock - the others weren’t far behind.

Although tired and exhausted from the race, the team are already talking about taking part next year and raising even more money for Cancer Research UK.
