Arley school takes Warwickshire quiz title for second year

For the second year running Herbert Fowler School in Ansley Lane, Arley, has won Warwickshire County Council’s annual Schools Road Safety Quiz.

The quiz final involved 32 teams from across the county at the Spa Centre in Leamington Spa.

The Road Safety Quiz has run over the past eight years and this year received a record number of entries.

More than 100 schools took part in the preliminary rounds to decide which should go forward to the finals, which saw 32 teams of ten and 11 year olds do battle this week.

Also this year for the first time a new computerised system was in place using computerised handheld sets which teams use to input their answers to the quiz.

Organiser Jane Lees, Road Safety Officer, said “This is one of the highlights of the Road Safety calendar and although it’s a fun evening, everyone takes it very seriously indeed.  The quiz is a vital way of raising road safety issues to children of this age group.”

Herbert Fowler School has received the Road Safety Quiz shield plus £100 for their school.
