New bus route success
Warwickshire County Council has listened to residents and provided them with the bus service they called for on their estate.
The county council has launched a new bus service for the residents of the Beverley Hills Estate in Milverton. And the Flexibus that runs every weekday to and from the Parade is already proving a great success.
Local resident Les Preston is now a regular bus user, and he said: "The bus is proving popular with many of my immediate neighbours and I hear it is so on other parts of the estate.
“I understand that others are applying for their bus passes, so I am sure the number of people using it will increase. One other good factor is that by using the bus it is expanding the community spirit as passengers get to know more people."
Cllr Bill Gifford who worked with the local residents to re-introduce a bus service to the area pointed out: "This has come about because the local residents put their case to the county council and the bus company. I am delighted it is proving so useful and I hope that the service can be expanded in due course."
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio holder for the Environment, said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to listen to local residents and then act on their needs.”
