Designs submitted for World Class Stratford bridge

World leading architects have submitted their bridge designs ahead of a huge consultation exercise in Stratford.

Details of the designs and consultation events, which will get underway at the end of August, will be released shortly.

In a bid to strengthen communication with local groups, Warwickshire County Council’s Strategic Director for Environment and Economy, John Deegan, last night met with Stratford Voice, a local action group.

He said: “The meeting with Stratford Voice was a frank and open discussion and for me an extremely worthwhile meeting. They expressed concerns, which will be considered as part of the consultation. All public views will be welcomed, residents and visitors alike.”

The bridge is part of the multi million pound World Class Stratford project. £7m has been secured from Advantage West Midlands, £2m of which is ring fenced for the new bridge.

The bridge will provide improved pedestrian and cycle access, particularly from the town centre to the recreation ground and vice versa, as well as providing a circular scenic walk along the river and an important link into the national cycle network. As a new landmark development, it is also expected to make Stratford more attractive to visitors, tourists, local visitors and residents alike.
