Motorists warned of Barford delays
Motorists are being warned of delays in the village of Barford as works progress on the bypass.
Construction of the Barford Bypass is going well and the £10.38 million scheme is on schedule for completion for the summer of next year.
However, a key part of the works are to see 24 hour traffic signals introduced from Monday, August 21, until Friday, August 25, and then from Tuesday, August 29 for about the following seven weeks.
Work, carried out by Galliford Try Ltd, is due to start on 21 August 2006 on the tie-in works on the existing A429 road at the south end of the village. This work is likely to cause significant delays to traffic.
In order to construct the scheme in this area, it will be necessary to use 24 hour temporary traffic signals with alternate one-way working, which will be in operation from Monday 21 August until Friday 25 August, and from Tuesday 29 August until mid October (approximately seven weeks). The road will be operating normally over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for the delays to traffic, and to assure drivers that every effort will be made to keep the disruption to a minimum during these periods.
“It is inevitable there will be delays, and, where possible, I urge drivers to find alternative routes.”
