Watch out there’s a judge about...

Mystery judges will be descending on eating establishments across Coventry and Warwickshire in an attempt to seek out the best of the best.

In the final stage of this year’s Coventry and Warwickshire Food and Drink Awards judges will visit all of the short-listed businesses.  The awards are open to any business serving food and drink to the public in Coventry and Warwickshire, and is an opportunity for businesses to gain extra recognition for their efforts.

Five businesses from each of the categories; “Best Restaurant”, “Best Ethnic Restaurant”, “Best Café/Tea Room” and “Best Breakfast”, will be judged against the quality, choice and presentation of the food, and the general standard of service.  The judges will also be looking for evidence that the business has thought about the ingredients it uses and has included some homegrown, homemade or local produce in their menu.

The “Champion of Local Produce” and “Excellence in Quality and Customer Service” are outstanding achievement awards, which will be specially selected by the judges, for commitment to customer care and use of local produce.

The winners will be an announced by BBC Midlands Today news presenter Kay Alexander at a prestigious awards ceremony to be held at Draycote Hotel, near Rugby on Tuesday 17 October.  This exciting evening is a must for all businesses in the catering industry, and especially those that have entered the competition.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Food and Drink Award scheme is run by a steering group of representatives from Warwickshire County Council and district councils, CVone, Heart of England Fine Foods, Henley College, the Chamber of Commerce and Business Link, and the Regional Centre for Tourism Business Support.
