A-level results celebrated in Warwickshire

Warwickshire students are receiving the results of their A-level, AS-level and Vocational Certificates of Education today.

Around 1500 students will be getting their individual results from their schools and colleges. Schools will then collate their results and be able to compare them with the previous year’s achievement. Full details of the county’s performance will be available some time after schools return in September.

Early indications are that the students, who sat the exams at 20 secondary schools and colleges around the county, have gained excellent results.

Warwickshire students traditionally equal or exceed the national pass rate, and headteachers were expecting another good year this year.

Marion Davis, Strategic Director for Children, Young People and Families, Warwickshire County Council said: “Students are to be congratulated for their effort and personal achievement in reaching this landmark in their lives. They put in countless hours of work and A-level results day represents the fruits of their labours.

“They can all be proud of themselves, as can the teachers in our schools and colleges for the quality of their teaching in helping young people reach this point.

“Advice is at hand for those uncertain about the next step. Those who have not achieved their grades required for university should follow the advice given by UCAS, while those still in some doubt about what to do next can turn to their local Connexions service.”

Bob Hooper,,Acting Head of School Performance at Warwickshire County Council, said: “We know that the vast majority of young people attending Warwickshire school sixth forms do well.  It will not be surprising to find, once all the results are known, that the vast majority of students will have been successful and can now look forward to the next stage of their career at university, college or employment.

“We will be analysing the results in full over the coming months to assess the full countywide picture. Today is a time for young people and their families and friends to mark their individual success before taking the next step in their lives.”
