Search for a chef
In the cookery version of X-factor, 5 budding young chefs will take their place in front of a panel of eagle–eyed judges to prove that they have what it takes.
In the final round of the Coventry and Warwickshire Food and Drink Awards, 5 chefs aged between 18 and 22 will battle it out in the ultimate cookery competition. They have been set the challenge of producing a two-course meal in just 45 minutes. The judges will be scrutinising their preparation skills, their food and their presentation skills to determine this year’s ‘Best Junior Chef’. The judges will also be looking at the chef’s choice of ingredients and their ability to make use of local and seasonal produce.
The cookery competition, which will take place at 2pm on Thursday 7th September at Henley College in Coventry, is an opportunity for the young chefs to prove that they have what it takes to succeed in the kitchen.
Although the chefs come from a range of different hotels and restaurants they have one thing in common – their employees have nominated them because of their ability, flair and enthusiasm!
The winners of this, and all the other categories, will be an announced by BBC Midlands Today news presenter Kay Alexander at a prestigious awards ceremony to be held at Draycote Hotel, near Rugby on Tuesday 17 October. This exciting evening is a must for all businesses in the catering industry, and especially those that have entered the competition.
The Coventry and Warwickshire Food and Drink Award scheme is run by a steering group of representatives from Warwickshire County Council, the District Councils, CVone, Heart of England Fine Foods, Henley College, the Chamber of Commerce and Business Link, and the Regional Centre for Tourism Business Support.
