Discover more about Warwickshire’s past!
Have you ever wanted to know more about a local Warwickshire building? Now is your opportunity by entering an exciting new competition organised by Warwickshire County Record Office and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust Records Office.
The competition, entitled Building Memories, is an opportunity to delve into Warwickshire’s past by teaming up with friends and family to research a local building of your choice. There will be prizes for the winning entries.
There will be plenty of help on hand throughout the length of the competition. To get people started, an open days will be held on Saturday 30 September 2006 at Nuneaton Library in Church Street, Nuneaton and the other at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust Records Office, Henley Street, Stratford-upon-Avon. At these, people will be able to register, and collect the Building Memories packs containing all the information needed to get started.
Rob Eyre, Senior Archivist, Warwickshire County Record Office said
“You will be able to ask members of staff from each Record Office for tips on local history research, including how to use the internet, and the kind of sources available for the history of various types of building. We look forward to seeing you at either venue – whichever is easier for you to travel to!”
