Family fun day open to all

Firefighters from Nuneaton are inviting families to come along and join in the fun this weekend at their station open day.

The event, which is being run by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, will take place between 10am and 4pm at Nuneaton Fire Station, Newtown Road on Saturday 2 September.

Those attending will be able to see and take part in a wide range of activities including a road traffic collision and chip pan fire demonstration, balloon race, scuba diving, face painting, a mini train ride and a rifle shooting range. Other activities include street, bangra and belly dancing, a dog show, charity stalls, fire engines including Coventry airports monster truck, a climbing wall and volunteers from the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust will be on site looking to recruit more donors.

The neighbourhood watch team, the police community crime team and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Services Emergency Support Unit will also be on hand to talk to you about initiatives taking place in your area.

Throughout the day food and refreshments will be available from the BBQ, café or beer garden.

Firefighter Rachel Streeting said: “This is an event that we have run for a number of years now and it is always very well attended. It is a great day for all of the family to enjoy, as well as finding their way around a fire engine, there will be a lot of fun activities for young and old alike to enjoy. So please come along and join in what should be a real community fun day!”
