First time history for village
Delve into the history of Dunchurch village with a new booklet being launched at Dunchurch Library on Friday 8 September at 10.30am.
The booklet, entitled ‘A Glimpse into the Past, a brief history of the village of Dunchurch, has been compiled by Freda Bennett, who is a member of Dunchurch & Thurlaston Women’s Institute History Group. It will fill a much-needed gap, as currently there are no publications outlining the fascinating history of Dunchurch.
In 2005, Warwickshire Federation of Women’s Institutes launched a series of History Days across the county. In July that year, two successful days were held in Dunchurch, when a number of local WI members, dressed according to the aspect they depicted, told the story of the village’s history and also led tours around the village and St. Peter’s Church.
The booklet is based on the carefully researched contributions from History Group members with some added information and many local photographs and illustrations. The booklet, price £3 will be available for sale at the launch and after that at various outlets in Dunchurch.
There will be a display of photographs of old Dunchurch at the library, beginning on 8 September and running for two weeks
Everyone is invited, especially those who are interested in Dunchurch and its history.
