PRU pupils show their progress
Pupils who have been excluded from schools in Warwickshire have been demonstrating the progress they have been making in their education.
An exhibition showcasing work and achievements by students from Warwickshire County Council’s Pupil Reintegration Unit is currently on show in the ante-chamber at Shire Hall in Warwick.
The displays are a snapshot of the various projects that the pupils at four centres around the county have carried out over the last academic year.
The PRU has centres in Keresley, Rugby, Leamington and Great Alne, and educates boys and girls aged between five and 16 who have been excluded from mainstream school. The aim is to enable them to make enough progress to return to mainstream education.
Among the displays on show are art projects, demonstrations of training schemes and vocational education undertaken at colleges in the area, digital technology and a fishing project – which helps the pupils learn patience and empathy.
Joan Hare of the PRU said: “This exhibition represents some fantastic achievements from students who may have struggled in mainstream schools. They make solid educational progress while learning how to manage their behaviour, with the aim of being able to re-integrate. The pupils are thrilled to see their work presented like this and it helps show them that they are making good progress with us.”
The exhibition at Shire Hall, Warwick, runs until 15 Spetember.
