Hotel gears up for Food Industry Oscars

Draycote Hotel in Thurlaston, near Rugby, is putting the final preparations together to host this year’s Coventry and Warwickshire Food and Drink Awards presentation evening.

More than 100 guests are due to attend the prestigious occasion, which will see BBC Midlands Today news presenter Kay Alexander announce the winners for 2006.

The presentation evening, which will be held on Tuesday 17th October, is the finale in what has again proved to be a highly successful competition.  With 72 entries received from across Coventry and Warwickshire, judges had the difficult task of short-listing just 5 from each category to visit in person.  Their mystery visits allowed them to sample the food and the overall experience for themselves and choose the three most worthy to receive the winning, highly commended and commended awards.

So as the excitement mounts entrants must simply sit back and wait to see whether they have been lucky enough to be selected.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Food and Drink Award scheme is run by a steering group of representatives from Warwickshire County County and district councils, CVone, Heart of England Fine Foods, Henley College, the Chamber of Commerce and Business Link, and the Regional Centre for Tourism Business Support.
