Only one week to go - get those funding bids in

It’s just one week to go to get bids in for a share of £50,000 available in community funds in Nuneaton and Bedworth.

Warwickshire County Council is calling on community groups and voluntary organisations throughout Warwickshire to put forward bids for funding from this year’s Community Development Fund.

More than £50,000 is available for projects within the Nuneaton and Bedworth area.  Bids must be for one-off projects up to a total of £5,000 each. All bids will need to be signed by the local County Councillor and must be received at the Area Office by 22nd September 2006.

Cllr Barry Longden, chair of the county council’s Nuneaton and Bedworth Area Committee said, “We were delighted by the projects funded last year, and hope this year we are able to support community projects which bring benefits to the people of Nuneaton and Bedworth.”

He said he is looking forward to receiving bids, which generally cover:
· The establishment/start up cost for a new group
· Projects which expand and extend a community group i.e. training for their members or the creation of a business plan
· Locally based organisations, serving local people
· Projects which benefit people living in the most deprived areas
· Projects which tackle more than one issue
· Projects that demonstrate a lasting benefit to the community
