From nippers to slippers - fire safety campaign

Firefighters from Leamington Fire Station are launching a new Fire Safety campaign, which targets both the elderly and the young.

As part of the campaign, firefighters from green watch, Leamington will be visiting nursery schools and sheltered accommodation in a bid to promote general fire safety and where required, fit FREE smoke detectors.

Firefighter, Cecil Benjamin said:
“The main aim of this campaign is to raise awareness of fire safety at both ends of the spectrum. We are hoping that by targeting both young children and elderly residents within the local area, we can stop them becoming part of the national statistics.

“Over 400 deaths occur by fire in the home each year, these two age groups account for over 50% of all deaths. These deaths are on top of over 14,000 fire related injuries.”

If as a family member you are concerned about Fire Safety for either age group, then please contact Green Watch on 01926 330118.
