`Excellent’ partnership to deliver transport and environmental improvements

Warwickshire County Council is employing an innovative solution to tackle the problem with finding the expertise needed to deliver transport and environmental plans.

Over the past five years Warwickshire County Council Design Services consultancy, within the Environment and Economy Directorate, has been in a Partnering Agreement with International Consulting Engineers, Arup.

Arup is one of the largest and most successful consulting civil engineering practices in the world.  The partnering contract was recently competitively re-tendered and has been awarded to Arup again for a further five years.  On Thursday the council will formalise the new partnership agreement with Arup when it signs up to a Partnering Charter.

Cllr Chris Davis, Chairman of Warwickshire County Council, said: “I am delighted to be signing the charter that will formally launch the new five year partnership with Arup.

“Modern local government often involves having to find imaginative and sensible solutions to what are often difficult problems. Working in partnership with Arup has brought a number of benefits that has helped us to deliver the quality transport system that people living in Warwickshire expect.  The new contract will build on the previous successes to ensure that the partnership is continually developing and improving over the next five years.”

Colin Stewart, Chairman of Arup Infrastructure (Europe), added: “Arup is excited to be a part of this continued partnership, helping to deliver Best Value for the local community of Warwickshire.

“We are pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with the county, and believe that partnering offers a wide range of opportunities to both our organisations.”
