Council magazine wins ‘best in UK’ award
Warwickshire View, produced by Warwickshire County Council’s communications team, has been voted best council magazine in the Country.
The Institute of Public Relations announced the winning entries at its UK ‘excellence in communications’ awards in Belfast last week.
The ‘View’, delivered free to every household in Warwickshire, shares the coveted ‘best civic magazine’ prize with the London Borough of Southwark. Judges said the standard of entries had been remarkably high.
Commented Leader of the Council Alan Farnell: “Good communications is vital if we are to meet people’s needs and make Warwickshire a better place to live and work. The View is a flagship publication and does a tremendously important job in keeping people informed about the whole range of services we provide.
“Readers have already told us they like it and find it useful. Now it has been acknowledged as a market leader, and confirms this Council’s commitment to the very highest standards of communication.”
The WCC communications team is no stranger to awards. They were runners up last year in the ‘communications team of the year’ category in the same IPR competition, and have been highly commended in other categories.
The View is produced and edited entirely in-house. A readership survey recently showed that over 90% of people receiving the View felt it gave them a better understanding of county council services.
The next issue, with a special supplement on recycling and waste, is due out on 19 October.
