Warwickshire staff celebrate long service

Staff who have devoted more than 25 years to education and children’s services in Warwickshire will be honoured at a special awards ceremony for long service at Shire Hall tonight.

Linda Pilkington, a senior years educator at Warwick Nursery School, is one of 30 employees from the county who will receive a Long Service Award.

Linda Pilkington’s history with Warwick Nursery School spans more than three decades and a number of generations. Although she has worked at Warwick Nursery School since 1980, she completed her first work placement there in 1968 while training as a nursery nurse.

She said: “It’s the children and their progress that make the job so rewarding. I have seen so many families over the years that the children that I originally looked after are now sending their children. It is good to be recognised.”

Marion Davis, Strategic Director for Children, Young People and Families, and Cllr Izzi Seccombe Cabinet Member (Children’s Services), will present recipients with certificates and gifts at the event.

Marion Davis said: “The awards are an important way of recognising the huge contribution that long-serving members of staff make to education and youth services in Warwickshire and we congratulate them all on reaching this milestone.”
