Master the art of composting
Warwickshire County Council is working in partnership with Garden Organic and WRAP to bring Warwickshire a second opportunity for local residents to train and volunteer as a Master Composter.
Every Master Composter attends two days of training, after which they will know everything there is to know about composting.
They then spend 30 hours over the following year promoting home composting in their local community, before they ‘graduate’ to become an official Master Composter.
The activities can take the form of talks to community groups and neighbours through to taking part in events.
Cllr Martin Heatley said: “Composting is a very important part of managing our rubbish and needs to be encouraged. Master Composters play an important part by providing support for people who either want to start composting or who are already composting and have a few questions.“
The training will take place on 22nd and 23rd November 2006 at Garden Organic in Ryton, Coventry and will include site visits to a centralised composting plant and all you could want to know about composting.
If you are interesting in becoming a champion of home composting to help spread the word and can make the training dates, please contact the Waste Minimisation Team at Warwickshire County Council on 01926 412458.
