Mancetter community get a voice

Residents in Mancetter are urged to give their views on the future use of the former school playing field site at Manor Road and Church Walk.

Warwickshire County Council has forged a partnership with North Warwickshire Borough Council, who both jointly own the land, and the Primary Care Trust who are all keen to see the site usefully developed in line with the needs of local people.

Dr Graeme Betts, Strategic Director of Adult, Health & Communities, said: “We have been working hard to get this important project off the ground.  We have now appointed Tribal, one of the largest consultancies working in the public and voluntary sectors.

“Tribal will act as an independent body to consult local people to find out what is important for them, for example, should it be health and care facilities for older people, children or disabled people.

“Funding will be critical to the success of the project and, once the community have made their views known, then the consultancy will seek out potential sources of funding.

Warwickshire County Councillor Richard Grant welcomed the news that the project is moving forward, he added: “People need to be thinking about the needs of our local communities and how they can be best met in a project like this.

“Letters have been sent to local organisations and those directly affected by this development to inform them of the work of the consultants.

“The consultants are very keen to start contacting as many people as possible as they start their work which is expected to be completed by the end of January 2007.

“I urge local people to get involved and voice their views.”
