Hartshill School calls for governors to get on board
Parents and members of the local community are being urged to get on board to help shape a successful future for a North Warwickshire school.
Hartshill has been given the go-ahead to form a Shadow Governing Body which will help steer the school through its improvement drive. As a result of the school’s improved quality of education, Ofsted decided in June 2006 that it no longer required special measures.
Warwickshire County Council is looking for shadow governors who represent various interests, including parents, staff and members of the local community. A leaflet with further information and an application form can be obtained by contacting the school on (024) 7639 2237 and the closing date is 6 November. Shadow governors will be expected to attend at least half-termly meetings and training will be provided by the local authority on the responsibilities of the role.
The shadow body will work alongside the Interim Executive Board for the next two terms before it assumes sole responsibility for the school. The school has been governed by an Interim Executive Board since the school went into special measures in March 2004.
Dave Potter, Area Schools and Communities Officer, said: “Hartshill has been making superb progress. We are now looking for parents, staff and local people to help the school go from strength to strength. There are still areas that we wish to improve upon so we need individuals with a genuine commitment to the school’s success.”
